We have just completed the first One Heart Women’s Bible Study Brave Women Run in My Family.
We had about 25 women, relaxing under fairy lights, listening to the hilarious adventures of Pastor Pauline and the group of women who attended the Colour Conference in Sydney. Then we read through the account of the life of Eve.
Talk about a woman who we can relate to! As we considered and discussed Eve’s life, we touched on regrets she might have had, what ‘one flesh’ means in a marriage, how God loved and provided for her even when she turned away from Him, and how she went through so much; losing her son Able when her son Cain murdered him. Eve’s story finishes with her final son being born and a note that all the people worshiped God by name, showing us that Eve was still faithful to teach her children about God.
When we study the bible it is good to think about what the account meant to the people of that time, what it means to us as a body of believers now, and then what does it mean to me as an individual. We looked at all of these points in this Brave Women study, and came away feeling closer to Eve’s story, and with a clearer understanding of how God loves us, even if we go against His plans for us. It is easy to look at Eve and think – ‘Geez, why didn’t you just NOT eat that fruit?!”, but of course, each and every single one of us turns against God’s plan for us at some point. We prayed that we can be brave enough to follow God closely and trust that He truly does have good plans for us! #Brave
